The GY-53 VL53L0X Laser Time-of-Flight (ToF) Distance Sensor Module is a compact and highly accurate non-contact ranging solution based on STMicroelectronics’ advanced VL53L0X ToF technology. Unlike traditional IR sensors that depend on reflected light intensity, this module measures absolute distance by calculating the flight time of a laser pulse, ensuring reliable and repeatable measurements.
Using an invisible 940 nm VCSEL laser, the sensor delivers accurate distance readings that are independent of target color, surface reflectivity, or ambient lighting. The GY-53 supports distance measurements from 30 mm up to 2 meters and communicates via a standard I²C interface. With onboard voltage regulation and level shifting, it operates seamlessly with both 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers, making it ideal for Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and embedded automation systems.
