TP5000 1A Lithium Ion (4.2V) and LiFePO4 (3.6V) Battery Charger Module

The TP5000 Charging Module is a flexible and compact power management solution designed for single-cell lithium chemistry batteries. Built around the advanced TP5000 step-down switching chip, this module efficiently handles the charging of both standard Li-ion/Li-Po (4.2V) cells and high-performance Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4 or 3.6V) cells. The module defaults to 4.2V charging, but can be switched to the 3.6V LiFePO4 mode by manipulating the onboard CS pin or corresponding solder pads.

Using a switching-buck circuit operating at a high frequency of 800 kHz, the TP5000 module achieves superior charging efficiency with minimal heat generation compared to linear chargers, even at its default 1 Ampere output current (which is programmable up to a maximum of 2A by modifying an external sense resistor). The module follows the critical three-stage CC/CV charging algorithm and includes essential built-in protections like over-temperature shutdown (OTP), short-circuit protection, and reverse battery shutdown, guaranteeing safe and extended battery life for all your portable devices and DIY projects.
